The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences feels proud to be associated with Ms. Deborah Kisongochi, the recipient of the recent Zuri Award in the Honorary Media Category 2022, an event held in Nairobi on March 4th, 2022. Ms. Kisongochi, who is a graduate of Journalism and Mass Communication, is a media technologist in the English, Literature, Journalism, and Mass Communication department.
The award was in recognition of her efforts in setting up a platform that encouraged the public, mainly in Bungoma and its environs, to participate in digital marketing of their brands, products, and services, a new frontier during the start of the harsh economic times of COVID-19. The Facebook group embraced e-commerce and gave an opportunity to service providers and customers to interact in a safe space, initiating a speedy and reliable contact, connecting consumers to financial experts and resources.
Miss Debbie’s forum grew to greater heights, attracting a growing population of over thirteen thousand users.
Her knowledge and expertise in the media have been of greater benefit to the students in Journalism and Mass Communication in the Faculty of Arts and Social Science. The benefits include mentorship, enhanced learning of the ever-changing Media, and equipping learners with skills on how to create such innovative forums.
