Message from COD, Social Work & Criminology
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the department of Social Work and Criminology of Kibabii University. The department is home to a diverse group of people, programs, and initiatives. It is an exciting time for our diverse programs and for the faculty and university in general as we strive to prepare competent professional social workers and criminologists for the challenges ahead. Part of our mission is to continue to disseminate knowledge and engage our communities, county and globe at large.
The department offers six programs namely; Bachelor of Criminology, Bachelor of Social work, Diploma in Criminology & Criminal Justice, Diploma in Social Work & Community Development, Certificate in Criminology & Criminal Justice and Certificate in Social Work & Community Development. The department is at advanced stages in developing Masters in Criminology and Masters in Social work.
The department has a group of top notch, highly trained, motivated, committed and dedicated faculty members who are constantly improving on academic excellence and finding out the best practice model to address the emerging social problems. Meeting the challenges of world’s complex psycho-social problem we are constantly changing and updating our curricular, maintaining and exchanging views with the academia throughout the globe. At the same time as a change maker we know only theoretical knowledge is not enough that’s why we encourage our students to involve in extracurricular activities. We have a Criminology Students Association and Social Work Students Aassociation whereby our students actively engage in the activities that increase their creativity and make the department environment a vibrant.
Our student interns are placed in a variety of social service settings including probation, National police service, Judiciary, social welfare organization, Non-governmental organizations and community based organizations. After graduation we are proud to place our graduates in top agency and prestigious jobs.
