The Department of English, Literature, Journalism and Mass Communication (ELJMC) at Kibabii University is situated in the main Academic Block.

The department offers the following programmes: Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication, Bachelor of Education in English and Literature and Master of Arts in Comparative Literature. .

Believing that ELJMC is at the core of interpretation and dissemination of information, and, an agent in the socialisation, humanisation and harmonisation of the populace, we train people in all areas of English, Literature and Media Studies. Our training enables students to fit and work in both local and international environments.

The Department of English, Literature, Journalism and Mass Communication provides a welcoming and friendly environment for all students. Post-graduate students and staff share their work-in-progress in the monthly departmental seminars. Our department seeks to establish a vibrant English, Literature and Media Students Association (ELMSA) that will be committed to bringing all students together and organizing events such as seminars and poetry nights.

In responding to the needs to provide our students with an environment that helps them to have a global sense of citizenship, the department is looking into ways of partnering with both local and international organizations which will in short run accord students and staff an opportunity of taking part in exchange programmes.

Research Activities

The department hosts  young and vibrant scholars. We have a committed team of senior lecturers, lecturers and tutorial fellows. Areas of specialization include, but are not limited to:
