“Adversity causes some men to break, others break record” The story of Shadrone Suba Adalo is one that well fits the quote as he was awarded with a First Class Honors Degree in Social Work in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences during the 7th Graduation Ceremony on 3rd March 2023.
A Son to Mr. Joshua Adalo Mugimi and Ms. Judith Emali Vosena. Shadrone a native of Vihiga County grew up in Kajiado North. He attended Igakala Primary School from 2000 to 2010 where he took his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (K.C.P.E) scoring 333 marks. He joined Magui Secondary School in 2011 for his Secondary education but his dream was cut short at the time as he experienced prolonged sickness. Owing to this, his father opted for a transfer of school to Nkaimurunya Secondary School in Kajiado North where he completed his secondary level with a strong B of 62 points a direct entry to the University.
In 2015 he was admitted to Kibabii University to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Social Work but when he was in second year in 2017, he got sick and was forced to defer in order to attend to the illness. After a year of challenges he rejoined back in 2018; this time, school fees and upkeep proved to be a major problem thus forcing him to sit for special examinations an obstacle that almost forced him to drop out. Despite the reoccurring sicknesses he successfully completed his studies in September 2023.
Memorable moments in campus for Shadrone includes when he received the message that he had scored a First class when the graduation booklet was posted on the University’s website. Others include the victories his team Unity FC in the Kibabii University League got, winning SOKU Tournaments and being named the Team Manager of the Year 2022/2023 during the KIBU SOYA Awards. A man of many talents one can describe him. His priority now is to secure employment or internship in order to take care of his aging parents, wife and their beloved daughter. He also looks forward to further his studies in Social work Administration and Psychology in order to cater for mental health issues and child welfare programs in the society. He prays to secure a fully funded scholarship to further his studies either in Canada, Australia or the United States.
As a passionate soccer player, shadrone plans to enroll for a post graduate Diploma in Sports Science. His long term dream is to be the Secretary General of the United Nations and attributes this to his Facebook account christened ‘Sec Gen Gutierrez’ in honor of the current United Nations Secretary General Antonio Gutierrez.
